Tyler Stowell

I’m Tyler Stowell. My wife, Allison and I have been married since December 2010. I played football at the University of South Florida where I first met my bride and got involved with Athletes in Action. We got married, joined AIA staff and said, “we have no preference where you send us.” AIA said, “Ok suckers…New Jersey!” While it wasn’t a choice to come here, it’s been a choice to stay, and we have loved the last 12 years! Florida is where we are from, but Jersey is home.
We have 3 kiddos: Peighton (10), Brylee (8), and Alana (2). They bring life much joy! I love sports of all kinds, including cheering for my hometown Tampa Bay Bucs, Lightning and Rays. I am consistently leveling up in my coffee snobbery and enjoyment. I love gardening (veggies) in the spring and summer. A good book (Pete Scazzero, Andy Crouch, Andrew Peterson are current favorite authors) outside somewhere brings me rest.
My aim in life is to enjoy solitude with Jesus and share it with others in community, holding out to athletes and coaches the joy that He offers!

Lauren Bonness

Hi, my name is Lauren Bonness!! I grew up in State College, Pennsylvania in a family of four with an older brother and two younger sisters! I would characterize myself as the family ring-leader and cheerleader who is constantly on a hunt to find the most fun things!! I attended Michigan State University, where I played field hockey!! I graduated from MSU then stayed in Michigan for another six years working with Athletes in Action!! I only recently moved to New Jersey in the summer of 2024 and it’s been a fun adventure and complete gift from God to work with Rutgers staff and student athletes!! In my free time, catch me drinking coffee, exploring NYC, finding the food spots, playing sports, rollerblading, dancing, singing, thrifting and reading my bible!!!

Allison Stowell

Hi, I’m Allison Stowell. I’ve been serving with Athletes in Action for 15 years and have been doing so at Rutgers since 2012! I’m a wife to Tyler, and a girl mom to Peighton, Brylee, & Alana. Although I now call New Jersey home, I was born & raised in Florida. My life was significantly impacted by a teammate on my high school cheerleading team—she introduced me to Jesus in a way I could understand and was excited about! These days, I enjoy date nights with my husband, watching my kids thrive in their activities & bringing them along to Rutgers sporting events, spending time on campus with female athletes, baking and reading.

Justyn Tennant

Hi, I’m Justyn! I’ve been on staff with Athletes In Action for four years, two of them as an intern and two as senior staff. I came to Rutgers after getting my degree in Sport Management at West Virginia University. My love of sports and involvement in campus ministry made joining Athletes in Action at Rutgers an easy decision. While I am far from a top-level athlete I have yet to find a sport I do not enjoy playing or watching (Olympic breakdancing might be the one exception to a sport I would play). When I’m not investing my time in the sports world through ministry or as a leisure activity, I am often spending time with my wife, Dani, and our one-year-old daughter, Aslyn. We are usually doing what Aslyn loves which currently includes: going on walks to the park, singing songs like “Wheels on the Bus” or “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes,” and taking afternoon naps. Outside of that you can find us reading, hiking, or watching something on Disney+ (i.e. Bluey, Marvel movies/shows, Pixar or Disney princess movies, etc.).

Tyler Kelly

Hi, I’m Tyler! I am currently an Intern with Athletes in Action, and in the process of joining full time! I’ve worked at Rutgers for almost 2 years now but have been around longer than that. I went to Rutgers as a student from 2019-2023 where I studied civil engineering and also ran on the Track and Field team. I am originally from Freehold, New Jersey, so I’m a Jersey boy through and through. If it wasn’t obvious, I LOVE sports. But there is a difference between playing and watching! Sports I enjoy playing: Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer Sports I enjoy watching: Baseball, Football, Hockey I would say naturally I am an introvert, but I like to consider myself an energy matcher; whatever vibe you bring, I’m right there with you. A perfect day for me would a nice long run on a trail in the woods, get teleported to the beach where I would lounge, read a book, and play volleyball, and then come home, cook a large meal for a bunch of friends, and finish off the night with a couple of board games.

Dani Tennant

My name is Dani Tennant! I grew up in church, but it wasn’t until college that I began to really know Jesus, although He had been drawing me all along. Although I was not a college athlete, I got involved with Athletes in Action in 2021 after my husband, Justyn, and I moved to NJ so he could work with AIA. After graduating from West Virginia University and moving to NJ, I worked in engineering for a couple years until we had our daughter, Aslyn. Around then I began seriously considering joining staff with AIA, and in 2025 began working part time with them! I’m from a small town in western PA with nature and not a lot of people. Coming to Jersey has challenged me in different ways, but the Lord has used it to open my eyes to the beauty of diversity in His world. For hobbies, I love to hike, read, and connect with others. I also love getting some good time with my love and our little stinker.
